How we work
Most complaints about electricians are not about the wiring. They are about not turning up, not calling back, and leaving a mess. So that is where we put the effort: you get told when we are coming, you get a written price before we start, and the job is left clean.
The work itself is straightforward when it is given enough time. Cable routed properly, terminations made off correctly, circuits tested and results recorded. It is not complicated — it just cannot be rushed, and pricing a job with enough hours in it is what makes it possible.
We work on Glasgow’s older housing stock a lot: tenement flats with lath and plaster, original cornice and shared closes, where a rewire has to be planned around the building rather than forced through it. We also do new build, extensions, commercial refurbishment and retail fit-outs, where the job is judged as much on hitting the programme as on the installation.
Standards and certification
All work is carried out to BS 7671, the 18th Edition wiring regulations, and to Scottish building standards — Scotland has its own building standards system rather than the Part P arrangement used in England and Wales.
Every installation leaves with the correct certificate: an Electrical Installation Certificate for new circuits and installations, a Minor Works Certificate for alterations to an existing circuit, or an Electrical Installation Condition Report where the job is inspection and testing. Test results are recorded in full on the schedules that go with the certificate, so you can see exactly what was measured on every circuit rather than taking it on trust.
That paperwork is what a solicitor asks for during a sale, what a letting agent needs for the Repairing Standard, and what an insurer will want to see after a claim. It is issued as standard on every job, not on request.
