Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor and Garden Lighting in Glasgow

Outdoor lighting changes how a property looks from the street and how much of the garden you actually use. In a Glasgow winter it is the difference between a garden you see from October to March and one you do not.

Outdoor & Garden Lighting — what it involves

The whole job lives or dies on the cabling. Armoured cable at the right depth, IP-rated junctions, correctly glanded terminations and RCD protection are what stop an outdoor installation becoming next year’s fault call.

We plan lighting around what is worth lighting — the elevation, the planting, the path, the seating — rather than lining fittings up because they fit the fence panels.

What we provide

  • Fence and boundary lighting
  • Soffit and eaves lighting to elevations
  • Up and down wall lights
  • Exterior spotlights and tree uplighting
  • Path, step and driveway lighting
  • Decking, pergola and garden room lighting and power
  • PIR sensors, photocells, timers and app control
  • SWA cable runs, IP-rated enclosures and RCD-protected circuits

Why customers call us

Common reasons for outdoor & garden lighting

  • A garden you cannot use after dark

Lighting extends the usable months, not just the usable hours.

  • A dark path, drive or side access

The most common reason people call, and the easiest to solve well.

  • Security

Lit approaches and a well-covered perimeter, particularly alongside CCTV.

  • Kerb appeal

Soffit lighting and up-down wall lights transform a sandstone or rendered elevation.

  • Solar lights that never worked

Scottish winter light levels are not kind to solar. Mains lighting is a different category of result.

  • Decking, pergola or garden office

New outdoor structures need a proper supply, not an extension lead through a window.

What you get

The difference it makes

Built for a Glasgow winter

IP ratings, gland selection and cable routing chosen for driving rain, not a dry week in June.

Aimed on site

Fittings set and aimed after dark so the effect is right, not just the positions.

Controlled sensibly

Photocell on at dusk, timed off at midnight, with an override — not lights burning all night.

Ready for more

Circuits sized with capacity for the garden office or hot tub you add later.

Questions

Outdoor & Garden Lighting — your questions answered

Can outdoor lighting be added without digging up the garden?

Often, yes — we can run along fence lines, under decking or around hard landscaping. Where a cable does need to cross a lawn, we lift and reinstate the turf.

What cable do you use outside?

Steel wire armoured cable for buried and exposed runs, correctly glanded and at the right depth, on an RCD-protected circuit. Anything less does not last outdoors.

Will it work in Scottish weather?

The fittings and enclosures are specified by IP rating for the position they are going in. That is what determines whether it survives, not the price of the fitting.

How is it controlled?

Photocell, timer, PIR, wall switch or app — usually a combination. Zones let you light the path without lighting the whole garden.

Does it need to be on its own circuit?

For anything more than a couple of fittings, yes. A dedicated RCD-protected circuit means a fault outside does not affect the house.
